When & Why We Started
Great Lakes Automation L.L.C formed in 1997 & is based in West Michigan serving the local & regional Midwest markets. Since we started building torch reaming stations, component technology & robot weld cell control systems has changed significantly... so has our design. Most recently we've been asked to offer fieldbus communication options to our tool for quicker integration @ startup & complete network visibility to the PLC during operation.
As a small company we have the ability to stay connected to our customers thru constant feedback & improve our design accordingly as the market evolves.
Historically our sales have been thru local welding supply houses & OEM's. We still do this today but are now offering the tool to customers & distributors beyond the West Michigan market thru our online store listed below.

Our design includes the market leader SMC actuators with autoswitches & directional control valves, Ingersoll Rand planetary gearhead reamer cutter air motor & a very unique anti spatter spray system. The cutter blade is high quality M-2 heat treated tool steel for long life.
We are now offering flexible component solutions to suit customers needs. Some prefer discrete wired systems to their PLC or robot controller, others prefer fieldbus network modules in a variety of protocols, We offer both! We also give you the option to select a 1/2" or 5/8" diameter reamer cutter upon order to fit your weld nozzle.
Operator Safety
To protect & extend the life of the pneumatic system, we include a 5 micron air filter cannister. To protect against personal injury, we include a "lock out tag out" safety dump valve which releases all compressed air from the unit, protecting an operator from unexpected movement when adjustments are needed.
Environmental Awareness
Our adjustable displacement, single shot spray pump delivers the exact amount of anti spatter spatter fluid to the weld nozzle every time which minimizes wasted atomized spray. With this feature, we can now keep your weld nozzle coated, weldcell clean & operators healthy.
